I was cited and detained for Petty Theft (Penal Code Section 484-488) as misdemeanor. I faced up to 6 months of jail for this offense. Also, a conviction would have had a horrible effect on my record, as well for my IMMIGRATION PURPOSES. It could have severely effected my future and possibly my naturalization process. In my case, I was caught in a store putting items into the child stroller and I admitted to the crime. THIS IS DESPITE THE FACT I ADMITTED GUILT TO THE POLICE FOR THE CHARGES. I truly believe that without Mr. Bruzzo’s representation none of this would have happen. I was accused of petty theft [a violation of Penal Code Section 484(a)-488 a misdemeanor] and told to appear in the Orange County Superior court. It was alleged that I took items from a store without paying for it. The maximum jail sentence for this crime is 6 months in jail.
I hired Mr. Bruzzo because of his years of experience in the Orange County courts and his familiarity with all the District Attorneys. I knew that only a lawyer practicing in Orange County for quite some time would be able to get me the result I desired. In addition because of the nature of my job any conviction could have had consequences for my continued employment.
Many individuals in the same situation as me qualify for a diversion class; however, that usually requires that the Defendant plea guilty up front with a dismissal later. This was not something I could do because of the sensitive nature of my job.
Mr. Bruzzo was aware of my situation. As such he negotiated an agreement with the District Attorney wherein I would get the case DISMISSED without a guilty plea after I made a “donation”.

I was arrested for stealing items from a store valued at over $1,000.00. The high dollar amount of my case means it could have been filed as a felony. I was charged with a violation of Penal Code sections 496(a) (Receiving stolen property); 484(a)-488 (Petty Theft); and 647(h) (Prowling). I could have spent up to one year in jail for these offenses and suffered a conviction on my record.
