Fertility Doctor Fighting Extradition

Law Offices of William W. Bruzzo

A former UCI clinic fertility doctor is fighting extradition from Mexico. Dr. Ricardo Asch fled the U.S. when a grand jury indicted him and his colleague of numerous charges of tax evasion and mail fraud. The charges stem from 1995 when it was brought to light that doctors were allegedly taking eggs from women without their consent and then giving them to other women. The indictment however was based on $1 million worth of clinic income that was unreported and thousands paid by clients that were kept by the doctors. It is unclear how long it will take to get Dr. Asch back in to the U.S. since he is fighting the extradition. Meanwhile the University of California has reached settlements costing the institution millions and now they are considering going after Dr. Asch’s assets in order to regain some of the money.
