Battery with Serious Bodily Injury
Orange County Criminal Law

Orange County criminal attorney William Bruzzo has successfully defended battery with serious bodily injury cases.

I was charged with 4 counts of Penal Code Section 245(a) (1) [Assault with a deadly Weapon] and 1 count of Penal Code Section 243(d) [Battery with Serious Injury] and Penal Code Section 314(1) [Indecent Exposure] as a misdemeanor. I also had an enhancement for Great Bodily Injury under Penal Code Section 12022.7(a).

This all arose from a physical altercation between me, a friend and several other people. I believed that I acted in self-defense throughout the situation. Despite that, I was arrested and bail was set at $50,000.00. I was facing up to 10 years in prison for these offenses and life time registration as a sex offender.

I hired attorney Will Bruzzo to represent me. Mr. Bruzzo had represented me before. Mr. Bruzzo took evidence I provided and negotiated hard with the District Attorneys. He was finally able to negotiate a deal where ALL the felonies were DISMISSED and the Indecent exposure PC 314(1) was DISMISSED.

I pled to a misdemeanor assault, Penal Code Section 240 and got informal probation and 10 weeks of Anger Management.

I am very happy with this result and I would recommend Mr. Bruzzo for any Penal Code Sections 245(a) (1) [Assault with a Deadly Weapon], 243(d) [Battery with Serious Injury] and 314(1) [Indecent Exposure] cases.

I was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon under Penal Code Section 245(a) (1) and an enhancement for Great Bodily Injury under Penal Code Section 12022.7(a). These charges arose when I got intoxicated and assaulted an individual with a bottle and a large board. He suffered head injuries as a result.

I was looking at up to 7 year in prison for this offense. I was also concerned with having a Strike on my record. I hired Attorney Will Bruzzo to represent me because of his military background since I am also in the military. Mr. Bruzzo tried to get me into Veteran’s Court and he also tried to get the District Attorney to reduce the case to a misdemeanor.

After many court appearances the Judge finally agreed to give me a misdemeanor and probation and a local jail commitment.  I am very happy with this result and I would recommend Mr. Bruzzo for any assault with a deadly weapon case.

I was charged with a Felony Penal Code Section 243(d), Battery with Serious Bodily Injury; this offense carries up to 4 years in prison. Additionally, I had a “strike” prior from many years ago which would have doubled my potential sentence to 8 years.

While I did hit the victim one time, it was in self-defense as I was desperately trying to stop him from doing serious injury to both of us.  He claimed that I had caused him to suffer a broken nose and orbital bone; I denied doing anything close to that kind of damage.

I hired Attorney Will Bruzzo to represent me on this matter. Because I lived out of state Mr. Bruzzo got the Court to allow him to appear for me after I made the initial appearance. Mr. Bruzzo made several appearances for me.
When the family member initially refused to admit the truth as to what happen, Mr. Bruzzo took statements from other family members where the victim conceded he was at fault. When this failed to sway the District Attorney, Mr. Bruzzo continued to take statements from witnesses as to the victim’s admissions. Finally, the victim himself came around and admitted partially to his wrong doing.

After all the statements, to include from the victim and after Mr. Bruzzo negotiated with various District Attorneys over several months the case was finally DISMISSED! I never pled guilty, never suffered a conviction and never served any jail for this offense.

I am very happy with this result and I would enthusiastically recommend Mr. Bruzzo for any Penal Code Section 243(d) Battery with serious Bodily Injury case.

I was involved in a fight in Orange County where basically I thought these two guys were about to hit me so I hit them first, one time each.  One of the guys hit his head on the concrete floor when he went down and cracked his head open- he ended up being hospitalized and he went into a coma although he eventually fully recovered.  It was my belief from the beginning that I had been acting in self defense even though I had hit the guys first. I explained it all to the police. Despite that I was arrested, bail was set and I was eventually charged by the Orange County District Attorney with  Battery with Serious Bodily Injury (Penal Code Section 243(d)) and Aggravated Assault with Force Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury ( Penal Code Section 245(a)(1)); in addition I was facing two enhancements one  for Inflicting Great Bodily Injury (Penal Code Section 12022.7(a)) and another for Inflicting Great Bodily Injury which led to the person becoming comatose (Penal Code Section 12022.7(b)).  I was facing 13 years of prison for these offenses. These offenses are considered strike offenses. Also, I had been previously convicted of a misdemeanor charge for an altercation a few years previous.

I hired Attorney Will Bruzzo to represent me because of his familiarity with the courts and district attorneys in Orange County; also, Mr. Bruzzo has had extremely good results with these types of cases. Mr. Bruzzo managed to get the District Attorney to offer me a misdemeanor with no jail time but I felt that I was truly innocent of these charges since the other guys were the aggressors and it turned out they were also highly intoxicated.  Mr. Bruzzo supported my decision and fought hard to get the case dismissd. When the District Attorney refused Mr. Bruzzo set the case for trial. Mr. Bruzzo proved to be an excellent trial lawyer. After three days of testimony Mr. Bruzzo argued in closing argument that I should be found not guilty of all charges given the considerable evidence of self defense. The jury was only out for 1 hour and 30 minutes before returning with verdicts of NOT GUILTY on all charges to include lesser included offenses. I truly believe that Mr. Bruzzo did an outstanding job and I would enthusiastically recommend him for any felony battery, aggravated assault, simple battery or simple assault case.
