Theft

All Huntington Beach Cases heard at the West Justice Center, 8141 13th Street, Westminster, CA 92683-4576

If someone takes something from a store without planning the theft in an impulsive manner, then the person can be charged with Petty Theft. If the value of the property taken is $50.00 or less then the person may be charged with an infraction at the discretion of the prosecutor under Penal Code Section 490.1. An infraction is like a speeding ticket which is also an infraction and is not considered a criminal conviction. However, in the opinion of Attorney Will Bruzzo it is always better to get the Petty Theft case dismissed and not admit guilt to anything.

Huntington Beach Petty Theft Attorney Will Bruzzo has managed to get petty theft cases in Huntington Beach dismissed without a guilty plea.

Petty Theft occurs when someone takes the property of a store or an individual without their permission with a total value of less then $950.00. This crime is normally charged as Penal Code Section 484-488(a).

Huntington Beach Petty Theft Attorney William W. Bruzzo has been able to get many of these cases dismissed. This is especially true if the person has no prior record and the value of the property taken is relatively low.

Huntington Beach Petty Theft Attorney William W. Bruzzo has been able to get these cases dismissed even when the person has shown they planned to take the property as opposed to an impulsive theft. Petty Theft normally applies only to impulsive non-planned thefts whereas a theft that is planned is charged as a commercial burglary (Penal Code Section 459-460(b)) or Grand Theft (Penal Code Section 487(a)). These two latter charges are more serious offenses and carry more jail time exposure. Contact the Law Offices of William W. Bruzzo for any petty theft case at (714) 547-4636.
